
Who We Are
Bearcamp Valley Sportsmen’s Club is a volunteer-run organization based in Tamworth, New Hampshire. The club provides a safe, welcoming environment for shooting sports, outdoor activities, and community events for members and guests throughout the Lakes Region.
Club History
The club’s roots date back to the early 1970s, when local volunteers came together to establish a place for safe shooting and outdoor recreation.

Club formation and early organization
Mid-1970s
Clubhouse use established at the current location on Stratton property
Fishing Derby was introduced
Late 1970s
Range operations and property use expanded
1982
Property officially deeded to the club, including the clubhouse
Mid-1980s
Trap shooting introduced
1970s–1980s
Community traditions included:

Hunters Breakfast events before opening days

Turkey shoots held at Harkins Barn (Great Hill area)

Fourth of July parade floats (including Bicentennial participation)

Cribbage tournaments in the early 1980s
Early-2000s
Fishing Derby moved to the Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm pond

Action Pistol events introduced

Robert Sears’s Memorial 1911 match introduced

Trap machine replaced with a new wobble machine
The early efforts helped shape the club into the active and community-focused organization it is today.
Today at the Club
Today, Bearcamp Valley Sportsmen’s Club supports both experienced shooters and newcomers through organized events, hands-on instruction, and a strong emphasis on safety.
